Generation 5 Electronics

Building on decades of experience, Gen5 electronics increase sensor accuracy, data rate and on-instrument data storage size, as well as introducing our new easy-to-use universal controller – the Command Unit.
MultiNets, Multi Water Samplers, Depth Meters, NetProbes, Single-& Twin-Fire-Modules will now be delivered with Gen5 electronics.
If you own a Gen4 Device and are interested in the new capabilities, please contact us about upgrade options!

Thanks to its backlit, transflective LCD and intuitive soft button design, the Command Unit can be operated at night, in bright sunlight, indoors, outdoors and with gloves on as well as in arctic and very hot environments.
The Command Unit is rugged, sunlight readable and splash proof (IP65). Use it to control your instrument or sampler and run maintenance functions on deck without the need for a laptop. It is interchangeable between Gen5 MultiNets, Multiple Water Samplers, Depth Meters, NetProbes, Single- and Twin-Fire-Modules as it will automatically read the connected instrument’s capabilities and display corresponding functions.
Increase sensor data rate to enable faster winch speeds and / or higher spatial resolution. After all, ship time is expensive. Or decrease data rate to save storage space.

Is an underwater data connection available? The Command Unit will act as an interface between the telemetry signal on the winch cable and the PCs USB port. It will get a bidirectional signal through cables over 10 km long using only 3.3 Volts, even at full 10 Hz data rate.
Are you deploying without an online telemetry / data connection?
Use a PC with OceanLab or the Command Unit to first program automatic sample triggering and transfer recorded data after deployment. When the instrument is on deck and the PC is far away in the dry lab, use the Command Units data transport mode to transfer data and programming setups between sampler and PC.
